Summer is here!

July 15, 2017

We hope that you are enjoying your summer so far!

Now is a great time to either start with braces or get used to them because summer offers:

·   Flexibility at mealtime

·   Ease of brushing teeth at home

·   Access to weekday, daytime appointments

With the nice weather it is great for kids to get outside and play in the fresh air. If your child does happen to fall, don’t forget to look in their mouth! It is always a good idea to call or make a trip to the dentist to get their teeth checked if you suspect injury to the mouth.

Here are some tips for what to do in the meantime:

If a tooth breaks:
Clean the injured area, cover the exposed region with gauze, save the piece that broke off, and store in water.

If a tooth becomes loose:
Apply ice and gently attempt to push the tooth back into socket. Early stabilization is the best chance for the tooth to reattach.

Knocked out permanent tooth:
If you can locate the tooth, hold by the crown (widest part opposite root), remove any debris while avoiding touching the root, and rinse with water. Cover with gauze and bite down to stabilize. If the tooth can’t be placed back in the socket, store in either milk or sterile saline solution. Call your dentist for immediate attention.
Wishing you a relaxing rest of your summer!
